Breaking the Cycle of Offending: One Year On (new window)
A report and Action Plan has now been published following on from the Breaking the Cycle of Offending seminar held by The Prince’s Trust and Clinks and supported by the Youth Justice Board last November. An Advisory Panel, chaired by Rob Allen (Director of the International Centre for Prison Studies and Chair of Clinks), will assess progress on the Action Plan as well as identify further opportunities for collaborative activities. More information about the report or details of the Advisory Panel can be requested by emailing Clinks or the Prince's Trust.
Sustainable Development Report (new window)
The fifth annual, covering the period April 2006 to March 2007, has been published. The report covers progress made by both the Prison Service and Custodial property in addressing its commitments, aims and targets regarding sustainable development.
Working for everyone: building community confidence in the criminal justice system (new window)
On 26th March Jack Straw gave a lecture at the Royal Society of Arts on public confidence in the criminal justice system.
National Commissioning Plan (new window)
The final version of the plan has been published. The plan is also available in Welsh (new window).
Review of the use of restraint in juvenile secure settings (new window)
On 20th March Justice Minister David Hanson made a written ministerial statement on the review of the use of restraint in juvenile secure settings.
Capacity Programme Update
The NOMS Capacity Programme is responsible for the delivery of prison accommodation to meet the pressures of the prison population. 429 places have been delivered in March so far. Another 428 places are due to be delivered during April and May.
