Tomorrow, 1 April 2008, the Ministry of Justice launches a new structure.  A new Corporate Management Board (new window) starts work together with five new business groups: Corporate Performance; Democracy, Constitution and Law; Access to Justice; National Offender Management Service; and Criminal Justice. The department now has the right structure to support delivery of its objectives. It will enable the Ministry to join up better, create efficiencies and support our new ways of working.

NOMS

The prisons and probation services are being brought closer together under the National Offender Management Service.  From 1 April, former NOMS staff will report either into the NOMS business group headed by Phil Wheatley, or into the Criminal Justice Group headed by Helen Edwards.
